During absent 20 months in the year 1889 & 1897 while I was acting Captain Superintendent of Police, Mr. Meary Meredith served under me first as Chief Inspector and latterly as Acting Deputy Superintendent of Police.

I have throughout approved of his legal and saleable suppress from Mr. Me...pist. His zeal, his ability, and his other good qualities were added to his lengthened experience of Police duties at Hong Kong as Inspector in...
